Why the Waterfowl?

The Mallard Cup and Gander Cup are inspired by the beautiful wetlands that surround the Libertyville Township Sports Complex and our feathered friends that call it home!

The mallard was chosen as the mascot for our 4-week "pre-season" tourney because it is small, fast flying, and easily recognizable. The honor of the mascot for our larger Summer League went to none other than the Canada goose. Soccer players have a lot to look up to in this bird: fierce, intelligent, and somehow everywhere at once!
